How to Build a Social Media Approval Workflow That Actually Works
A clear approval workflow for teams that need speed without giving up review, client sign-off, or accountability.
Approval is a control, not a bottleneck
Good approval systems make the right path obvious. Creators know when to request review, approvers know what is waiting, and owners can override with a reason when speed matters.
The workflow should be visible at the point of scheduling, not hidden in a separate policy document nobody reads.
The minimum viable approval policy
Define who can draft, who can approve, who can publish directly, and which brands always require review. For small teams, a one-step approval gate is enough. Larger agencies may need client approval plus internal final review.
Keep overrides accountable
Sometimes a trusted owner needs to publish immediately. That should be allowed when the plan permits it, but the override reason should be logged so the team can review the decision later.
